WEEK OF May 2:

SATURDAY:
Fremd (13-3-1, 8-3-1) won 4-0 over Rolling Meadows in a Mid-Suburban League game in Rolling Meadows. Alexis Tice scored 2 goals and the Vikings got one apiece from Nicole Obo, and Carrie Wagner. Michelle Mottonen had a pair of assists on the day while Tice and Jessa Rizzo also had assists in the win.  Rachel Tenuta made one save in net for Fremd's 9th shutout of the season.

Oswego East (12-5-1) won 5-0 over East Aurora. The Wolves led 1-0 on a Victoria Pecci goal off an assist from Sam Lee, and second-half scoring came from Lee, Megan Ross, Justine Lee, and Brittany Brewer, who also assisted on Lee's goal.

West Chiago (9-7-3) won 1-0 over Glenbard North on an Andie Lazzerini goal off a feed from Bianca Navejas in West Chicago.

Waubonsie Valley (13-5) won two games en route to the Lemont Cup title, first winning 3-1 over host Lemont and then blanking Carl Sandburg 1-0 in the title game, in the Warriors' 6th win in 6 days. Jenna Romano, Michelle Filipek, and Shannon Donelson scored against Lemont, Megan Green had a pair of assists, and Caroline Soyars added an assist. The Warriors got the game's lone goal against Sandburg from Green on an assist from Kristen Brots. In 6 games this week, Green had 5 goals and 10 assists and leads the Warriors in both categories with 8 goals and 13 assists this season. Jordan Myers was in net for the team's 8th shutout.

FRIDAY:
Waubonsie Valley (11-5)
won 3-0 over Lincoln-Way East (3-12-2) in opening-round play of this year's Lemont Cup, with keeper Jordan Myers in net for the Warriors 7th shutout. Jenna Romano, Caroline Soyars, and Megan Green scored in the win, with Green posting her 10th and 11th assists of the season.

THURSDAY:
Naperville Central (11-5-3, 5-0-1) won 3-1 over West Chicago (8-7-3, 2-1-2) in a DVC contest, getting goals from Amanda Alberts, Veronica Ellis, and Maddie Thompson and assists from Kristen Adams, Ashley Tegge, and Katherine Short. West Chicago scored on a Meagan Radloff penalty kick in the second half. NCHS is guaranteed at least a tie for the DuPage Valley Conference Championship and the Redhawks would clinch an outright title with a win on Tuesday against Glenbard North.

Crystal Lake South (14-7-2, 9-2) won 3-1 over visiting Prarie Ridge (5-9-0, 5-4) on a pair of goals from Christina Szocka and a goal from Kali Loescher, who also assisted on a goal. Rachel Resek had a pair of assists in the win, Karli Schumaker assisted once, and Gators keeper Elizabeth Quinn had 3 saves in the win.

Chicago Christian (10-12-1) finished regular-season play with a 4-0 loss to Mt. Assisi. Coach Trevor Schans: "After carrying most of the possession through the early part of the game Mt. Assisi was able to break through with a long shot. Two more goals quickly followed in the first half and though they pressured the Knights weren't able to close the gap. The Lady Knights begin regional play at home on Friday, May 13.

 

WEDNESDAY:
Waubonsie Valley (10-5, 5-1) won its third Upstate Eight Conference game in three days, winning 2-0 over Lake Park on goals from Megan Green and Mackenzie Fuller and asissts from Green and Jenna Romano. Jordan Myers was in net for the Warriors' 6th shutout of the season.

Barrington (11-5-1, 7-2-1) won 3-2 over Rolling Meadows, getting a pair of goals from Elli Ackermann and one from Aimee Pierce in the MSL contest in Rolling Meadows. Emily Hyde had a pair of assists and Mia Calamari added a helper in the win.

Elk Grove (7-6-3, 3-4-2) won 6-0 over Hoffman Estates on a Kelly Hubly hat-trick, two goals from Michelle Calmeyn, and one from Carin Fearing. Fearing had a pair of assists in the win and the Grens also got assists from, Hubly, Katie Naughton, Lindsey Vaccarino, and Sarah Stram. Melissa Solorio was in net for the team's 6th shutout of the season.

Downers Grove South (16-2-1, 5-0) won 3-0 over Morton on a goal and an assist from Megan Martin and a Stephanie Zurales goal. The Mustangs clinched at least a share of this year's West Suburban Gold title with the win, and have outscored WSG opponents 26-0 this season.

 

TUESDAY:
Waubonsie Valley (9-5, 4-1) won 3-1 over South Elgin in an Upstate Eight Conference game in Streamwood, getting goals from Megan Green, Kristen Brots, and Mackenzie Fuller, and assists from Green and Brots.

Jacobs (16-5, 7-1) posted its 8th shutout of the season in a 1-0 FVC win at Prairie Ridge, getting a goal from Catie Sherman on a Kelly Grady assist.

Lincoln-Way West (5-8-1) won 9-0 over Thornwood, getting 2 goals apiece from Kylie Hermanson, Kalin Winans, and Cori Brennan, and a goal apiece from Lea Gindville, Emily Kowalski, and Morgan Contreras.

Crystal Lake South (13-7-2, 8-2) won 3-1 over host McHenry (11-7, 6-3) in an FVC battle, led by Kali Loescher's 2 goals and 1 assist. Emily Schoenfeldt also scored in the win for the Gators as keeper Elizabeth Quinn made 11 saves. Molly Mahetma scored for McHenry while Erica Patterson had six saves in the losing effort.

St. Francis (11-5-2, 5-1) won 5-0 over Aurora Central Catholic on a pair of goals from Andrea Ravlin and one apiece from Andi Matichak, Sydney Fox, and Kaity Bucaro. Bucaro and Fox also had a pair of assists each in the Suburban Christian Conference win and the team's 9th shutout of the year.

Plainfield North (12-2-2, 4-0) won 5-0 over Plainfield East with Ashley Handwork leading the way offensively with a hat-trick and an assist. Callie O'Donnell had a goal and 2 assists and Ashley Auble also scored for the Tigers in the SPC battle at Plainfield East. Kaela Leskovar also had a pair of assists in the win while goalkeepers Emily Brodict and Paige Polonus shared in the team's 9th shutout.

 

MONDAY:
Waubonsie Valley (8-5, 3-1) won 7-0 over Streamwood in an Upstate Eight Conference game in Aurora, getting two goals from Kendall Wilde and one apiece from Mary Wright, Megan Green, Kerry Skotnicki, Caroline Soyars, and Jillian Staton. Green had three assists in the win, Wright had two, and the Warriors got one apiece from Staton and Soyars. Jordan Myers was in net for the team's 5th shutout of the season.

Barrington (10-5-1, 6-2-1) won 7-0 over Wheeling in an MSL contest in Barrington. Molly Pfeiffer and Emily Hyde each scored twice and the Fillies got goals from Amy Pierce, Kathryn Avedon, and Emmelie Hirdes. Pierce and Catie Curran had a pair of assists each while Hyde, Anna Burnidge, and Mia Calamari chipped in one apiece. Avedon and Kelly Pedersen shared time in net for the Fillies' 9th shutout of the year.

Elk Grove (6-6-3, 2-4-2) lost 2-1 in 2 overtimes to visiting Palatine, getting a goal from Michelle Calmeyn on a second-half penalty kick.

Oswego East (10-5-1) won 1-0 over Joliet West on a Carli Schlaker goal in Joliet. Hannah Gargrave made three saves in net for the Wolves in their 9th shutout of the season.

Plainfield Central (8-7-1) won 4-0 at Addison Trail on goals from Adabel Ortega, Sami Jensen, Shawna Watson, and Britney Lenza.
